And your point is what? That you can copy and paste also.

Photo #1: Public domain; official U.S. Coast Guard photograph
Photo #2: As a work of the U.S. federal government, the image is in the public domain.

Either way bro, rules are rules.

To the OP. Great pics.
I used to take my P&S to events like parades, but then would see a unique opportunity and would wish I had my 5DMk2. Now I lug it every where I go. Darn heavy piece of $4i# (fine photo technology). ;)

Man... I wish I had my 5DMk2 with me...

And what rule am I breaking, bro?

They're public domain photos used to illustrate a point. Do I need to explain it in detail? Is the obvious that far of a reach?

....the best camera is the one you have on you at the time.

So Buff the use of those pics bothered you so much that you derail the OP's thread and create a pissing match with someone who is contributing positivly to the thread. Bad form Bro!

It was not my intention, just saying to be careful what you post, because the Mods will Kick you off for good or Suspend your privileges to the Forum. I Enjoy this Forum as much as the next guy. Just looking out. If someone gets there feelings hurt because I point out rules, well hopefully they will learn next time. Also hopefully Read the rules of the Forum and abide by them

The WWII shots are awesome pics not sure how you compare those with the OPs snapshots. Decent snapshots of course.

Maybe a polite PM to the offending poster might be more acceptable etiquette. FWIW

I didn't see anything rude in his post and I've seen this rule pointed out in the forums many times. I'm not sure why you are giving buff-guy such a hard time?

Because people need to get a clue about copyright and not get their knickers in a twist every five minutes.

These are public domain. The rules that were posted are meaningless as far as those images are concerned. One might also suggest that if the Lange image isn't immediately recognised, then you've got no right to call yourself a photographer!

Like I said: I have seen the rules pointed out many times in this forum and I have never seen it followed by the disclaimer "...unless the photo is designated public domain".

Besides, the rules are clear:

"Do not post another photographer's photos without permission from that photographer"

The rules go on to say that photos that violate copyright infringements will be removed, but that doesn't mean that photos that don't are ok. Maybe a clarification in the rules is in order?

And double besides: A simple "thanks for the warning, but I think these photos are ok to post because they are public domain" should suffice.

Are those colors SOOC? If so, I quit.

Yep. I did the eye dropper in post to correct white balance, but didn't do anything to change the color levels. Like to try and keep the color as natural as possible when shooting outdoors.
