We had a rare sunny day last week and took advantage of it with a trip that ended up at Horseshoe Lake in Woodland, WA. Along with the fishermen along the shore there were 5 osprey fishing from above. The speed they can get to makes tracking them a challenge.

Comments and suggestions always appreciated.

Thank you all for the comments. These are beautiful creatures and one would think large enough targets for the camera. I still have difficulty tracking them at 400mm. And in live view for video? Forget it!

Practice, practice, practice.

Very nice Dave, I've not had too much luck getting shots of any of these guys.

Thank you gary, sharon - I find a great excitement in being able to photograph these creatures. And when you don't have to even sneak up on them quietly it's really fun.

Sharon - I've been admiring your smugmug gallery - nice stuff. Are you using a 70-200 with and extender?
