I left on vacation May 13 and started getting "lens error restart camera" 10 days later. I bought the camera May 16 2010 

I was on a cruise at the time and wanted to get pix of what was probably a once in a lifetime cruise, so, I bought another camera. (New first thing to get packed when I leave even for a weekend trip is a smaller camera we keep around the house for odd things.)
Should I even bother contacting Canon or are they likely to tell me it's going to cost almost as much to fix it as a new one will cost? I really like the camera and I hate the thought of not having it.
