Got a friends baby shower I have been asked to help take some pictures for. Its in a large rental hall - 15ft+ ceilings (so no flash bouncing options).

Looking to get some tips and or some ideas of what i can setup for them.

Shots I plan to take:
Portraits
Action shots as games, convos, etc are going on.

Equipment: T2i, 18-55m kit lens, 50mm 2.8 lens (plan to use quite a bit), external yn-468 flash and of course tripod.

Any thoughts on anything I can get or settings that will help?

I would still bounce flash. Everyone's different, but I really like the 'better bounce card (external link)' for situations like that.

I would go M mode, 1/60 ISO 800-1600 depending how bright and f/4-5.6. Point your flash at the ceiling with a bounce card and since it's manual adjust with test shots until it looks right.

For portraits probably the nifty fifty, AV mode F/2 high ISO. Make sure you shoot in RAW and/or change your white balance if the lights are tungsten or fluorescent.

Good luck.

Thanks Snakeman!

Good call on a bounce card - totally forgot about that.

Ill keep those setups in mind and see works best.
