I have a 580EXII which is about 6500k according to my WhiBal card. If I picked up a second speedlight and umbrella for fill light, what would be a good one? I'd like to match the 580's color temp as close as possible without spending the money on another 580. ETTL is not required as I'd be setting the power manually and triggering from a Cactus v5.

All flash units from $50.00 cheapo Chinese units to $10,000 European units have nearly the same color temperture so don't worry about it.

I think your WhiBal card isn't giving the proper measurement, or you are getting junk data somehow. The 580 series (both EX and EXII) should be right around 5400k temp. The Yongnuo series of flashes operate right around this color as well, fwiw. Ergo, pickup a YN-560 if you want something full manual for fill and do not need E-TTL.

I've tested it several times with different neutral targets and its always very close to that. If the WhiBal were really off by 1,000K, balancing with it would result in an obviously horrible color cast.

Nevermind - I am incorrect, after having done some research myself. You are right.
