My first attempt at food photography. These are called chocolate ooh la las. They are basically chocolate covered pretzels/haystacks. The first photo is an example of a box that they are packaged in. Each box contains a type of custom message that is supposed to make them unique (seen in photo 6)

All photos were taken with canon 7d 24-70L and lit with an alienbee b800 reflected off of a ceiling

C&C please

Are these being used to promote the product? If that's the case I think they are close but could use some tweaking.

I really like the lighting and composition on all of these and think you nailed that. The main issue is too shallow a DOF on almost all of them.

#1 - The table surface doesn't work, it makes it look like the 3 off the plate are just floating in space
#2 - Best shot of the bunch, although I would like to see just a little more DOF.
#3 - The DOF is way too shallow here, or the focal point is in the wrong place. The piece closest to us where the eye is drawn is OOF while the one underneath is in focus, it makes my eye jump around too much
#4 - I like this one. Might darken the bow a bit and add a shadow underneath
#5 - Again too shallow a DOF. If you want to go with that shallow a DOF, crop so you lose the 4th piece, maybe even the 3rd.
#6 - Again would like a little more DOF, so the bow and chocolate are in focus.

You'll have to send me some. Nice photos. I like the first one, the plate appears to be floating.

Thanks. They are very good. I'm usually not very fond of chocolate covered pretzels but these are different. They are mostly chocolate with just a little crunch and a hint of salt. Not the overwhelming saltiness chocolate covered pretzels usually have.
