S95 issues

I've bought and returned three S95's. The first popped up a "lens error" message without any damage or jostling of the camera or lens mechanism. Unfixable without sending to Canon.

The second had blurred focus out of the box, on full auto and in Tv, Av and M.

The third took RAW photos that could not be edited in Camera Raw; I tried other SD cards but had the same problem; shots from other cameras worked OK in CR. Canon tech support could not help and said to send it in for repair...a new camera.

I love this camera. Before the first "lens error", I took some beautiful and marketable photos.

I don't know if I should try a fourth camera. They all came from one vendor. Should I try a different vendor?

This is not about the vendor, who has given me exceptional service, and may have received a bad batch...or is there such a thing? I've not read that anyone else has had these issues, aside from the lens error message. I've spoken to the vendor's customer service, who said they will contact Canon.

After three times with same vendor,and fail, fail, fail, I'd try someone (vendor) else if you are determined to receive a clean S95

No, because CR edited just fine with previously taken, unedited shots from the S95, and shots taken with the 5D2.

Is the vendor an online or brick and mortar store? It could be just a bad lot that your vendor received from Canon. I haven't had any issues with mine since I bought it.

Vendor is brick and mortar, and I agree that they probably got a funky batch of these camera. I got another one from a different store and so far so good. The IQ is absolutely incredible.

I also found a small clamshell belt pouch by Lowepro so that there will be no chance of an accidental push of the on button and another "lens error".
