Hi guys im doing alot of switching around in my lens line up, and as im gonna be doing alot of weddings just wanted your opinion on the lineup??

Iv decided im gonna go with the following

- 7D + Sigma 30 1.4 / Sigma 85 1.4

&

- 60D + Sigma 17-50 2.8 OS / Canon 70-200 2.8 MKII

Would really like your opinions :)

I think the 30 and 85 could be a great combo for a wedding but I am confused,

Are you planning on having both setups? or wanting to decide between the two?

I think keeping track of 4 lenses might be a bit much during the ceremony, perhaps sticking with both bodies with the 30 on one and the 85 on the other? or maybe just the 30 on the 60D and the 70-200 on the 7D during the ceremony if you're worried about reach?

17-50 on one, 70-200 on the other.

You want to cover all ranges. Unless the lighting's very low, the versatility of the 17-50 trumps the 30 1.4

I don't think so. I have a friend who shoots weddings with a 24 l and an 85 l on a 5d II with no problems at all. You don't need the entire range, she has proven this many times.

I agree, you really don't need all the range. Whatever range you do need can be solve with a few steps.

Prime lenses are great for low light, sharpness and being able to isolate a subject because of the blur (i know focal length plays a role). It takes a little bit more experience to really shine with these lenses though. I think primes are great for set up shots and when one is has enough experience to anticipate what will happen next.

Zoom lenses are great if there is enough light (flash is huge if you can use it) because of the ability to isolate a subject so quickly without having to move your feet (if you have the proper lens)! When there's a lot of movement zoom lenses work great.

The lenses you have listed sound great. Especially the canon 70-200 2.8L IS MKII

how about the canon 580exII? The white bounce card is pretty huge (at least i use it a lot with a canon 17-55 2.8 IS. It's a beautiful setup if you know how to use them well)

I personally have done around 5 weddings and I feel very comfortable just using a canon 17-55 and a 70-200mkII on a APS-C body.

You'll need two cameras.

I'd suggest having 17-50 on one and 70-200 on the 2nd body.

I love my 1.6x cameras and ef-s lenses but, if I were going to equip myself for wedding work, I would select a pair of 5Dii cameras with appropriate lenses and flashes...

That's a pretty solid set up, I use ST-E2 to make them wireless on your 5D II, but 7D has got wireless control inside it's body.
