I'm planning for a trip to Hawaii this coming June. I was thinking of getting a used EOS-1D body after the new year, but since this vacation came along... I'm starting to rethink how I should spend my $$$.

Based on my list of lenses, should I go for the 1D? I have a nice wide angle with my Tokina 12-24 and I have a great mid-range with my Tamron 28-75. I don't plan on taking my 70-200 with me, because I'm trying to save some weight and I figured that most of my photos will probably be of landscapes and of people/sights. Then I thought, get a 16-35 f/2.8L. It might be a good walk-around lens with my 10D... saving me a little lens swapping, and I would still take my Tamron for the extra reach. Having two f/2.8 lenses would save me from carrying my flash around every place I go. The new 24-105 f4 is not even on the list... this lens would definitely make a great walk-around lens, but it's just too expensive right now. What to do... a 1D body would be nice, but the 16-35 2.8L would be just as nice.

Oh, I would probably take the 85 f1.8 with me too.

Since I'm thinking of selling my nearly new 16-35L, I think you should go with the lens (ie, buy it from me!!) ;)
This lens is superb in every way (I guess except price) ... optically stunning, and excellent L build.
I'm only selling mine because I dont use that focal length as much as I though I would.
The sharpness, colour, contrast and bokeh are second only to the 135L in my collection.
