I'm trying to understand what the use of this product would be. I know that is is a highly regarded product. In other conversations I had mentioned I stopped using diffusers and first try to bounce when I can. Technically it is not a diffuser but a bounce card. If I can't bounce I shoot direct with a bracket and dial up the ISO if I can. Others will just turn the flash off if faced with having to shoot direct.
To me the The Flip would take advantage directing light to second surface to bounce off when available. So you are getting light from 2 surfaces. I see it orientated in a forward direction. It is bigger than my 580's bounce card. So based on what I know about the size of the light source and distance to subject how much difference will it make over compared to the 580's. The classic is 4" by 4 1/2"and the Big Flip It is 4 1/2" by 5". Based on those numbers I'd have my answer but this this is what the add reads.
"All work the same way: the flash is pointed straight up, and different effects are created by adjusting the angle of the reflector".
I have been interested simply because many good Strobists use and recommend it. It is not that expensive but I have held off only because it was great giving all the diffusers and going back to basics. When you are shooting an event how time do you have to create different effects by adjusting the angle? How well does it work?
I did try a search but I could not find what I was looking for. Thanks in advance.
