I have never trusted this lens like I do the 35L or 16-35 or 85 (or others), because it seemed to backfocus initially - which I sent it in to fix.
All center point focusing:
It doesn't necessarily back focus all the time anymore, but when there is any subject close to the background, say about 10 feet away, it almost always focuses on the background and not the subject. I can lock focus on the subject and it will still have the background in focus and not the subject. It will confirm that focus is locked on the subject, but then the photo shows otherwise. The difference tends to be about 6-12 inches of misfocus and is never on a foreground object but always background.
Has anyone ever had this issue with the 24L II, and should I try to find different subjects to lock focus on?
Consistently inconsistent in focus pretty much anywhere, too: About 1 in every 2 shots will be in focus, with the other shot significantly out of focus.
