use the top level button above the top LCD to adjust the white balance options, top scroll until you have the K selected, once it's selected you should be able to scroll through the kevin # values without ever needing the LCD screen on. I don't have mine in front of me to confirm, but i'm pretty sure you can do it that way.

MMM....you can select K...but from there, I'm not sure how you can change the values.

That only allows you to set white balance quickly, not change the Kelvin value.

If your 'SET' button is set up to show the quick control screen then that would be the quickest way
I'm presuming your white balance would be set to K, so it would be SET button>highlight White balance>set button >scroll top wheel to change value
if the last control you used in the quick control screen was white balance then it would only be be SET>SET>Scroll

To have the set button open quick control you would go to....

MENU > (C.Fn) > C.Fn IV Operation/Others > SET > 3: Assign SET Button > SET > 5: Quick Control Screen > SET.

this works, yes i would like the values changed.
Thanks for including how to set the set button. this way is fast! unless anyone knows an even faster way..?

Register the desired Kelvin as a Custom setting (C1,C2, etc), and when you need that setting, simply switch the dial to C1

And take note (listed in the manual) of what the built-in White Balance settings use for colour temperature. That's a whole bunch of easily selectable options right there.

Why even bother with this? Shoot RAW and fix in post. Who wants more things to worry about changing on the fly when shooting?

A super fast way to access the setting is through the Q screen. To get it to display, simply to press in on the joystick (normally used for AF Point selection... but this time press straight in, instead of tilting it).

That will call up the Q screen. Navigating around the Q screen is also done with the joystick. Navigate to the white balance box, press "set" to enter it or just use the back dial to change to "K", then press "set". This will activate an additional screen where you can use the main dial (by the shutter release button) to scroll and set the color temp you want. Press "set" again, then half press the shutter release button to get out of the Q screen. Done.

You also can access the Q screen from the Info button, whenever the camera is not in an image playback mode (might have to half-press shutter release to get out of review). Otherwise, it's the same.

The Q screen is nice to have whenever shooting in low light, where the top LCD is difficult to see (though you can backlight it pretty easily, too).

One thing... When you set the Kelvin temp manually, you only effect the color temp. This doesn't set the tint. If you set a custom white balance instead, that will set both color temp and tint.

+1 to both, I don't bother with WB because you can always fix it in post with RAW.
