This Benedictine Monastery is located near Abiquiu, New Mexico, down a gravel road some 13 miles from the paved highway.

Nice shot, Stan. I bet this place would look even better with some side lighting, like early morning or late evening, depending on which side it's facing. It is also interesting that people decide to build in such remote country. Very neat though...

Thanks, et. I agree about the lighting, but I'm afraid that's the way it is with travel photography. We just can't be everywhere at the golden hour. Clearly, the location was chosen for its remoteness, since the purpose of the monastery is to provide the opportunity for meditation. But why, then, do they encourage visitation? It's an interesting situation to say the least.

I'm continually impressed with your ability to find locations of interest and the effort you put into in getting there! Nice work, Stan. That is the problem with landscape photography---there are two ideal times to photograph, basically two hours in a day. Unless you live in that area, you can't always be there during the golden hours. Compromises have to be made. Nature of the beast.

You guys are too kind (but I love it). Funny thing, Bruce, after every trip I learn of an interesting place near where I was recently visiting. These go on the list for next time. Meanwhile, my wife says "we're not going back there again, are we?".

Thanks, Don. NM has so many interesting churches. I'm reluctant to post all my shots of them for fear of boring everyone.
