So I'm in the market for a new tripod. My budget isn't huge but I need something more stable then my current set up (sunpak 423px with pistol grip head)

So I've been shopping around and trying to research legs and heads in my price range.

One that caught my eye is the Cullmann Magnesit 532 (and 528 to a lesser extent). Now the problem is this, I am having a hard time finding any info on these legs other then the specs. I have found a few things on Cullmann heads and so far any info on those have all been positive but I can not find anything on these damn legs, lol

The price screams lower end but is in line with the other legs I've been looking into in my price range (Vanguard alta pro 263 and manfrotto 190 xprob). However what I've read on their heads has all pretty much been lower price and higher quality then other similar products.

Anyone know anything about these legs? Are they the same as Cullmann heads (low price for good quality)? Are then utter crap?

Any info would be helpful.

thanks
gremlin

Place the following string into Google and you'll find plenty of comments on PN:

site: photo.net cullmann tripod

Change the web site in the string to another for more reviews.

I don't get why the price screams low end?
Unless you consider the manfrotto 055xprob to be low end as well, because they're about the same price if you're comparing the 528, in fact the 528 is more expensive in Europe at least.

I don't have any experience with their newer models, but I do have a very old set of Cullmann legs, and they've lasted a good 20 years or so, so I'd say they're amazing quality :)

If I need something more modern, I'm pretty sure I'll be going for a set of the 528Q's. Everything I've experienced with Cullmann indicates that they are a very good brand and make great quality products.

Thank you, I'll check out some of those links.

Please don't misunderstand, I dont mean low end as in crap, but lower end of the high end tripods. Cullmann's 528 is almost $100 less then the manfrotto 055xprob here in the states and is even $50-$60 less then the 190xprob (which I do consider "low end" in top quality tripods).

If I can get the same or better quality for $100 less then I'm all in :) (which from everything I've found so far has given me the impression that cullmann is a high quality product.). I just want to make sure the price doesn't reflect their quality

You guys in the US are so lucky :(

I don't get how products made in Europe can be cheaper in the US...
