Anyone tried this? Got it in my Amazon Email this morning. At $39.99, it looks like a steal.

Funny I got one of these from Carry Speed, arrived on tuesday. Havn't used it yet cause I am waiting for the shoulder mount and macro rail to get here, which hopefully will arrive today, plus I've been crazy busy. I have the Carry Speed sling strap which I use a lot when I know I am going to be out shooting for awhile, hate using the regular neck strap. I was recommended this by a friend who does a lot of video. This view finder was actually like 70 bucks a few months ago.
I'll post some shots later if your interested..

Well the attached pic's might not really help you with your decision. But from a novice my first impressions are that it works pretty well although it will take some getting use to. It's a bit awkward, but I guess that is to be expected considering I've never used one before. I'll have to buy a handle for the little rig I got. If you seen the video and reviews as far as build quality they are dead on. Hope this helped a little...
vFinder - 40, macro rail - 20, shoulder stabilizer- 35, handle - ? not bad for a budget setup.

I don't have any issues with knock offs.. as everything in life is a knock off of some sort.

And I won't complain about $39.99 either...

btw, what lens is that on your "I built" pictures?

what you're buying is the design of zacuto and it's an exact replica. the macro lens is probably cheap from either ones. I say that is because you don't need expensive lens, just the right diopter and clarity, and most lenses are up to par.

the anti-fog lens cover from zacuto is something you might want to purchase if you move in and out of building where temp changes.

John, I have this exact viewfinder. I've had it since January, and use it very often.

I'm very impressed with the quality of the plastic and glass magnifier. The *huge* rubber mould is awesome too.

I've had an issue with the magnet frame staying on my 7D, as they're configured to sit flush on the camera, somewhat overlapping the LCD screen edges. Unfortunately for me, I have an LCD screen protector and this causes the frame to sit half on the protector and too high to make significant contact with the camera body. So after about 10 hours of use, the sticky stuff could not hold. Right now, super glue is sticking the frame to my lcd protector (not the body). So this has been kind of frustrating.

Also, two of the magnets inserted in the viewfinder have come out and stick to frame. Good to see the magnets are strong, but too strong for the quality of construction. Again, superglue had saved the day.

I bought it at the time for $60, and considering "you get what you pay for," i'm pretty happy with it. For $40 bucks? I'd be stoked.

From the outside looking in, you can’t understand it. From the inside looking out, you can’t explain it.

Anyone come across the Proaim version? Seems to be a direct copy of the Z Finder with a gorilla plate as well.
