Canon CLP- Refurb or Not?

I ask as I'm selling my 7d I got from CLP but not sure how to advertise it. My understanding was that CLP products were not necessarily refurbished but could have been unsold stock and/or returns. Also, if they are refurb, why would Canon not sell under their refurbished program?

Just want to tell the buyer the correct information before I post it on CL.

They are refurbished as far as I know. I may be wrong though.

As far as I know, all cameras sold through the CLP are refurbished and come from the same stock as the refurbished cameras on the Canon Direct site. The only difference is that there is a 20% discount off the refurbished price for trading in an old/broken Canon camera.

Technically they are considered to be "refurbished". Where they come from have been speculated to vary from dealer overstock, demos, returns, random QC checks, etc etc, but bottom line is they are sold as refurbs.

Regardless of its original status, its used now.

It is used and was originally refurbished. To advertise as anything else would be misleading, imho.

Don't refurb bodies have a little circular sticker on the bottom? If so, do all CLP cams have that sticker, or just some? Do you get "real" box with CLP cams, or the typical white refurb box?

The ones I have bought from CLP have the sticker and come in a white box labeled 'refurbished.'

you might be able to sell it here quicker without too much confusion, since most are familiar with the CLP. Where are you located?

That is your opinion (which I agree with it), but it is not a universal truth. Refurb status should always be revealed, imo.

As far as I'm concerned factory refurbished is as good as new to ME. But I can understand how others will feel different. In your case I would just advertise as a used Canon Refurbish to avoid any issues about disclosure. It shouldn't affect pricing though as used is used and is more about condition than how it left the factory.
