I am sure I must have done something silly and somehow it's in TTL mode now with 5D II? Cust. func. 05 is set to zero. Do you know what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Wilt Reader's Digest Condensed version of War and Peace [POTN Vol 1] More info | Jun 04, 2011 09:10 | #5 The camera needs to be On and active (not asleep) for the flash to see it and go into eTTL mode. Jun 07, 2011 07:04 | #6 It actually did once more in the middle of shooting...I removed it off the hot shoe and everything looked OK (contacts are clean and it sits nice and tight)...set the custom function to zero again...nothing and after a while I grabbed it again and it went to ETTL...something is wrong with this flash I think. digitalparadise Awaiting the title ferry... More info | Jun 07, 2011 08:50 | #7 Yes. Unfortunately it is a known problem with that flash. It is a foot seating issue with the new shoe lock system. Best thing to do is send it to Canon. You live in MA so they will request it goes to NJ. They are fast - back in less than 10 day. I'm from Canada and I ship to NJ for repairs, I get my stuff back in 10 days and Canon USA Service does not ship to Canada. I read somewhere that a person got a new flash. I'm very lucky that I have never had that happen to me. Image Editing OK

dmward Cream of the Crop More info | Jun 07, 2011 18:01 | #8 Every once in a while my 580EXII starts doing the TTL switch. Most of the time a slight twist to the right (clockwise) gets it back to ETTL. Its been to CPS and had the battery cage and a circuit board replaced. That seems to be what causes the problem.
