Seeking help removing glare.

Hello,
I have this photo with the back lighting that messed up a bit the face and part of the shoulder.

I am looking for advices on how to reduce or remove this glare if possible.
I just start to learn Photoshop CS5 and Lr3.

I use attachment to post. I can see the photo but let me check on it again.
Yea I shot it in raw.

Add a Levels adjustment layer, and set the black sliders on the three channels approximately thus: R10 G45 B35.

Then mask as necessary.
