So, I'm going to a Reds game tomorrow and I thought I'd try to take some decent pictures as we're sitting behind home plate in the diamond seats. On the Reds website it says they allow camera bags and camera equipment. Bags must be no larger than 16 x 16 x 8 and camera equipment is acceptable as long as it fits within those dimensions.

So, I have one of these: http://www.amazon.com …amera-Sling/dp/B002ISXBFI (external link)

The dimensions are 4.5 x 3.8 x 14.8. Obviously the final say is going to be up to the security guard at the gate I walk though, but is the "14.8" likely to get me into trouble here?

I know people feel this is underhanded or unethical or whatever you want to call it, but I just sling it over my far shoulder so the security guard isn't concentrating on it, while I hold my camera in my hand and show him/her that.

Also, so long as the weather forecast is nice (no rain), I don't even bother with a bag. I'll just take the lens I want, such as 100-400 or 70-200, maybe my 2x TC, and then used to bring my 15mm fisheye so I could climb up to the very top row, way up behind home plate, and take an all encompassing shot of the park. And a small lens such as the fish, or even a 14, I'd just put in my pocket, making sure I wear a light jacket, even if it's a hot day.

Thanks for the reply. I was too scared to try to get in with my sling and gear. After I was in the gates, I noticed numerous people that had slr's with pretty large lenses so next time, I'll take it. Saw a couple huge backpacks too, which were much larger than the one I have. Had I parked close to the ballpark, I would have taken it and if I had to leave it in the car, no big deal. But we park across the river and ride a boat over to the ball park, so not really ideal if I get turned away at the gate because of my backpack.

I'm am kind of glad I didn't take all of that in anyway. It was SOOOOOO hot that it would have been miserable carrying it in plus holding it in my lap during the game.

Are you sure about those dimensions? That bag won't even hold your camera.:D;)
