Just out of curiosity, was your title a reference to Oswald Spengler? He was a really interesting philosopher.

Great captures!

Thanks.

Alfred Lord Tennyson 'In Memoriam J.H.H.' 1849

'Who trusted God was love indeed
And love Creation's final law
Tho' Nature, red in tooth and claw
With ravine, shriek'd against his creed'

So predates Spengler. The phrase 'Nature, red in tooth and claw' is often credited to Tennyson but appeared in several published works before his time. It gained public attention through Tennyson's poem because of the debate about Darwinism and 'survival of the fittest'.

Thanks for the comments folks.

I agree ... the first shot is a real tangle of legs, wings and fangs. Although the scorpion fly is out of focus it does look to me as if it has a really annoyed expression ... and under the circumstances I can't blame it.
