Just how good are these, compared to my Sandisk Ultra II? Actually, I have the Extreme, but I've come to realize that the Extreme is overkill and the Ultra II has about the same specs as the Extreme, the Extreme being a bit more rugged.

Well, I can't say fore sure. All I own right now is SanDisk Ultra II's. I do know that the Elite Pro's are Kingston's top of the line and are much fast (actually their speeds posted are faster than my SanDisk Ultra II's). For the price, I figure I'm willing to take the chance. I'll let you know when I get mine. I just checked, and they sold over 100+ of them today from when I originally posted this.

I have several Elite Pro cards, from 512MB to 2 GB. I have had no problems with them whatsoever, and they write fast. 1GB card for under $50? That's a very sweet deal.

Well, I got mine in the mail today !! I have no idea why they got here the very next day, but I'm loving it. So far, they seem like good cards, especially for the money.

Just got mine today. It is different than the picture posted on the site; it is a 50X, which may be better than the simple Ultra Pro. $19.95 no tax, no shipping.

I took a quick series of shots and it does appear to be a bit slower than my Ultra Extreme. I'll test the two side by side in the light tomorrow. In any event, it seems fast enough and fairly reliable. Thanks for the heads up.

They have been tested to be slower than the Sandisk Ultra IIs. They are still a very capable CF for the money, and the slightly slower speeds doesn't affect many people in most situations.

I just performed an unscientific test with my IGB Kingston Ultra Pro 50X, which cost me all of $19.95. I shot a burst of 9 shots at 1/320 with my XT using both the Sandisk Extreme and the Kingston. My test consisted of how long it took the light to go out after the shots were taken. I simply counted at the same cadence to each. The Sandisk was to a count of 7 and the Kingston a count of 8.5. Obviously slower. Of any real consideration? Nope. Seems fast enough and reliable enough for me. It also has a good reputation and usually is rated near the Sandisk and Lexar. If there are any left at BUY.com, I suggest you scarf them up. If you can apply for the credit card, you get $30 off.

Exactly what I was saying. I use my Elite Pro with no problems.

Good cards, I have several and have had no issues.

One thought on the price drop though, Kingston are about to release a new range - Ultimate, which is supposed to be twice as fast as the Elite Pro. They have already released them for SD and a magazine I have at home has the CF version advertised on the back.
