I vote for the Canon 55-250IS for 200$ or the Tamron 70-300 VC for 450$, Or next would be the Canon 70-200 f4L for 550$ (amazing value for sharpness and build quality)

Explain please ? About to bust out the credit card after your explanation.

Canon currently has an instant rebate going on theis lens. That is why you can currently get it for $200.

Yeah I just took a glance, not bad at all. I've been searching around trying to find threads with this particular lens, like a thread just with pictures shot with this lens. Anyone by any chance have any good links ? Really leaning on purchasing this asap now

The 55-250 is about all you're going to get in that price range. I would recommend the Tamron SP 70-300 f/4.0-5.6 Di VC USD. It will run you about $400 after rebate. It's nicely built and has a metal mount and can take some great photographs. Here's some samples.

You can pick up the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM for about $500 used. It's a very good lens.

for $200 55-250IS...if you had $500 you could get real close to a used sigma 50-500mm...no OS on it, but it's supposed to be a good lens...keh had a couple a few months ago under $600

For $200, there is the Canon 55-250 IS and the older used Canon 70-210 f3.5-4.5 USM. For $500-ish you can also consider the Tamron 70-300 VC and Canon 70-300 IS USM. You might also get lucky on a 70-200 F4L used for near that price.
