I am playing with my new studio strobes. I saw a photographer, forgot the name, who was doing this look for sports athletes. I figured I would give it a go. Did some post with cutting backround and some tweaking in Lightroom to make it more aggressive. Too much? Lighting in the face to dark? Critique me please. Edit if you would like.

Looks darker on the web. ohh well.

It is very interesting. To me the darkness around the eyes is a little too dark. I would maybe dodge around the inner canthus of his eyes to have a lighter sclera. The image does look like a sporty ad for nike or adidas or something. I don't really know what to say, its a cool photo though.

I agree, it's a cool look that I will try too. I do think he looks cross-eyed due to the way the light is hitting his eyes.

You should have used one more light directly above the camera at about two or three stops below the two kickers you used here. That would have lightened up the shadow running down the middle of his face. Attempting to lighten it in Ps won't work very well because the pixels have no detail in them to work with.

Yeah, it looks remarkably better imo. Its a very cool shot, I would experiment more with this set up if I were you.

Thanks Benji. I will retake this with my 580 set up high. I have two hensel strobes. 580exII set low should do the trick.
