The wife had to drag me into the Butterfly Pavilion today so I brought my 100mm macro with me, 2.5 hours later she had to drag me out. No tripods allowed so all shots were handheld, well worth the trip.

I would love to go to a place like that. The nearest one to me is over two hours away, though! I really love how the wings in number 3 match the flower the butterfly is sitting on.

Thanks all,
I tried something a little different than norm for me, I used my 7D in servo AF for most of the shots. As long as your close (1:3 reproduction ratio) and using a Canon macro lens this feature kicks in ("macro servo AF") with the 7D.

It looks like to me it works pretty well, all was handheld w/IS on.

I found out about this after using my macro lens for a month. It really helps to use servo when hand holding macro shots. It has made me keeper rate go up. It would be nice if the Rebels had the feature as most people have Rebel series cameras but as for as I know the 7D is the only one with it. The 60D doesn't have it.
