Green Heron (Juvi?)

Went down to the OBX with my wife for our anniversary and in the pond behind the coffee shop we stopped at I saw this Green Heron hunting for lunch...lighting was tough to say the least...also, only ever saw a Green Heron once before and I could have sworn it was a good bit bigger then this fella(or is it a female)

Nice work in some tough light, exposure looks best on the first and fourth shot. It could be a female but it is an adult bird.

I like the backlight on most of these. #4 is the winner imo. Well done.

Great series. I hope I see some of these guys this week in Everglades National Park. We're headed there tomorrow. This time last year they were everywhere.


My Gear: 6D, 7D, EOS-M w EF-M 22 f2 STM and EF-M 18-55 f3.5-5.6 IS STM, 17-40L f4, 24-70L f2.8, 100 f2.8 non-IS macro, 70-200L f/4 IS, 400L f5.6,, Canon 1.4x II TC, Canon Speedlite 430 EX II, Better Beamer.
