It's Flash and therefore doesn't work on my iPad.

I recommend avoiding flash all together.

The site looks good, but I see what he means by the flickering photo... I really like that format for these kinds of websites. Love the pics too.

I agree with others, don't like the entry page, music or the transition effect you're using. but all of that is personal taste.

+1 on all those things.

Entry page, music, using Flash entirely for a new site and an annoying transition effect... it is almost as if you are trying to turn visitors away.

Don't want to say it but, yea, don't dig it. Can't even tell you what the content did for me as the transitions were too distracting.

While I usually can't stand music on a web site this one didn't have the usual effect of making me navigate away.

I'd go with some of the suggestions.

You need an entry page only if you've got more than one option for people to go to. If you've got two different agenda websites under a single domain etc.

I don't see why people here are complaining about music though. The website is a presentation, you don't open a presentation while you're listening to your own music or are distracted in any other way.

I don't like entry pages, nor unasked for site music interrupting my music. Why are you listing your gear? Where are your prices? (The link isn't working.) I find the jarring image changing annoying.

I hope this is useful. :)

Thanks for the suggestions, I haven't listed any prices as I wanted to get my site presentable first and I was still learning about adding the pages in flash. When I was browsing other sites for ideas and layout I noticed a good deal of them had listed their gear, so I figured it was common place to do so. Is this a turn off for a customer or just bad taste? Thanks again for the tips.

good to know about the transitions, is it recommended to stay away from them in general or just the ones that I chose? I was just looking for something a little different, I didn't want a cookie cutter type of site. I think that was the main reason for going with flash.

If you are looking to drive people away, I think you succeeded. I can only echo what a majority of the previous posters have said....Why?

I agree with the others (music/flash). Absolutely hate it.

I'm a photographer, but I don't care about what gear you use. I'm sure the average client doesn't care either.

I am not sure who this "you" is that you are referring to, but to the help the OP, I will answer it for this comment. I do NOT expect sound from any website unless I am choosing to watch a video of some form. If I go to a photography website, I do so for the images or tutorials. If I click on a website and get unexpected sound, I leave. The only reason I stuck around the OP's website after hearing the sound was so I could answer his request on POTN.

Wasn't actually referring to anyone in particular. Just meant anyone visiting a website for a presentation should expect a presentation in whatever way it is presented to them as long as it is pleasant. I can understand the issues people have with the annoying flickering transition because it could probably lead someone to a seizure, but I don't think subtle music is an issue at all. Some of the best flash websites in the world are presented with music.

I will however agree that unless you're an established photographer and wouldn't depend on your website for exposure the use of Flash for the whole website should not even be considered. Seeing your website, this is quite unlikely however, If you don't care about that and want it purely for a presentation, by all means I think a flash website is completely acceptable.

I open LOTS of websites while listening to music..

Music on websites is an outdated design concept that needs to die..

Your music could NEVER be as good as the music I already had playing, which you so rudely interrupted by playing music under my music..

We aren't operating grocery stores..we don't need to entertain customers as they are sitting infront of an entertainment box already..

I also have to agree with the flash statement...flash is slow and clunky, and I don't like dealing with it..

The majority of browser crashes are caused by flash misbehaving. Remember that.

the wildlife and architecture galleries have a different gallery/photo setup than the landscape and candids.

also, and i dont know if you built the website yourself, the PORTFOLIO link at the bottom of the page does not take you back to the portfolio page that has the 4 thumbnails and 4 gallery options. if you click the portfolio link for the first time it takes you there but once you start viewing the galleries, you are unable to click the PORTFOLIO link to take you back. i do see the BACK TO PORTFOLIO link which does take you back to the portfolio page, but the PORTFOLIO link at the bottom should accomplish that. it doesnt and it threw me off.

i personally think you should not have a "comments" section unless its a blog. i also agree about not stating what gear you have or "please visit cause i upload often."

i usually dont like flash sites because they are bloaty, but your site loads superfast. to me its one of the fastest flash sites. i'll assume the file size of the images are small.

lastly, i like how fast the messages get sent and how it tells you that the message got sent. that is brilliant, i hate sending a message and waiting seconds for the message to go through.
