Anyone shoot any "going to prom" pics? Post 'em up!

These are of my cousin before she went off to prom

I am wondering what focal length you used on this shot. The young lady in the black dress is obviously of a larger build than the gal in the blue dress. However posing the couple with the larger girl in front (especially if you used a wider lens) really over emphasizes the size differential. Having the arms interlocked in that manner also serves to make the "Mutt and jeff" comparison.

I think that if you placed the gal in blue at the front and/or used a longer lens, there would not be such a noticeable difference. Also if the lrger girl were standing at a more acute angle, she would appear smaller/slimmer.

That shot was at 30mm. I see your point about the interlocking arms, as the angle is a bit strange. The gal in black was more athletic, and as such much bigger than the gal in blue, although in the above pic, the pose does emphasize the difference.

Here's one where they aren't side by side so it isn't as noticeable.

Swapping their places would have still helped though. This was about a 5 minute shoot because it started raining pretty hard. We got about 5 pics...so we were happy considering the circumstances.

Don't any of you guys EVER turn the girls to a 45° angle? Are you wanting them to look fat or what? Every one of the above girls could have been made to look 10 or 15 pounds slimmer with a little turn of the body and proper foot and hip placement. Maybe it is only midwestern girls that want to look slimmer?

Maybe my niece does not consider herself fat and would like to pose arm and arm with her friends...
