You should have kept your 580 ex too..That could have slaved the 430 ex in the right conditions.

If I were you and this is ussually what I do. I research everything that I buy for a good amount of time before I make a purchase. I don't purchase just to patch a need but something that with good quality regardless how expensive it is. I'd rather purchase it right the first time than regretting it specially when funds are limited.

No I'm not a photographer, I just shoot with Canon DSLR with those lenses with red thingy...;)

Thats my plan. At least thats my reason for asking now. To get some good ideas for later.

It's still warm outside, so I have plenty of time to use natural light outdoors.
This fall/winter though, I will need to find some decent studio lighting.

Right now, not too much.
I will probably finish the summer out just using natural and available light.

You can get an ebay umbrella and stand and some cheap youngnuo triggers

That would get you started off great.

Don't try to confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up.

I like umbrella's but they do not do well in any amount of wind.

agreed. OP can get sand bags or rocks. The OP said he uses "cabin/chalets" I kind of assumed he is inside.
