So I am still in search of an uwa for a 1d series. Tried the sigma 12-24 and just really didn't like the quality, don't know if it was a bad copy just didn't like. So I keep hearing about these two lens and I know on the 11-16 I can't use it until about 12mm or so. How is the tokina 12-24 in comparison. F4 is fine so it is not an issue between the 2.8 and 4, more about iq and functionality.

Love the image quality of my 11-16. The high Aperture comes in hand y indoors. That said I shoot more at 16 than 11.... and usually f4 or lower.

Stupid question: You are aware that 124 is also intended for APS-C sensors? I have no idea what focal length it might cover the APS-H sensor

I love my 12-24. Great lens.

Here is a recent shot I took with it.

The tokina can match APSH and FF sensor at 13mm-16mm no filter without vingette

I really like my 12-24; no complaints about IQ, and it's a very solid lens. If you buy used, there's also a significant price difference; I got mine for under $350, whereas the 11-16 is in the upper $500s. The 12-24 range is useful - I certainly use my lens more than I would have done if I'd bought the more limited 11-16 range. If f4 is ok for you, the 12-24 is a good choice IMHO.

I was under the impression they were both meant for aps-c and if thr 11-16 works at about 12-13, I thought this would be the case with the 12-24. Am I wrong?

They are both designed for APS-C but they will mount on full frame and APS-H. I occasionally use my 12-24 on my 1DMkII. I think it will work the whole range on the 1D but I wouldn't swear to it. I just don't use that fl much.

This feedback from Best landscape lens for 1D III? may be of use to you.

My Tokina 12-24 works just fine on my 1D2. However, it has to be at 15mm or beyond to avoid vignette. <snip>

Hope that helps
