Hello potn

i came back to answer a few pm's and to share these two films as i havent been on this forum in the past two months; and was in complete shock that my mexico wedding thread was still alive.

thank you so very much for watching my work and the warm praises that follow. it was a very nice and heartwarming surprise.

now with that out of the way; as the wedding season starts up again for me again; i figured that i'd drop by and share 2 films, one being the first same day edit of this season, and the other being the last same day edit of 2010.

in both cases i was going for the ultra clean route as an exercise in refining my editing chops re visual/musical storytelling without any narrative clutter.

both weddings are shot in my home town of Toronto Canada.

final film of 2010
http://vimeo.com/15506045 (external link)

first film of 2011
http://vimeo.com/24372698 (external link)

These were multi cinematographer shoots (2 plus one assistant in both cases), and i would say pretty much almost every single canon hdslr was ultlized along the lines somewhere.

5dmkii's
7d's
even a t2i made the cut in one of the films.

the standard plethora of what i personally believe are the best lenses for hdslr imagery were used as well.

ie. zeiss ZF (21 2.8, 35 f2, 50 f2, 501.4, 100f2) + Canon L glass (24 1.4 ii, 50 1.2, 14mm, 200 2.8 II, and a few 70-200's).

As always i'll try to answer any education related questions in a timely manner; and i just want to say thanks again for watching and commenting on my work.

THANK YOU POTN and ENJOY!!! =D

Awesome work Michael. Wa wa wee wa!
Your work really emphasizes clean modern story telling. Every shot has a purpose and moves the story along. Bravo!

Are you using any ND or Vari-ND to keep shutter speeds at 1/50 outside? Or are you just cranking the shutter up to get proper exposure?

hi kevin

no ND filters, just adjusting shutter speed and even reducing dynamic range in camera to shoot solely @ 100 iso outside. if i absolutely have to ill stop down but i do that more for keeping focus on steadicam then anything else!

the ND filters ive used personally lose sharpness in the images.

My daughter is three... I sure hope you are still doing this when she turns 40 on her wedding day (can you tell I'll have a hard time with that) because if you are, I will not let her get married without you behind the camera working your magic!!!

Absolutely amazing work, puts my wedding video to shame.

BTW, from your film in 2010, I was just at that church taking photo's for my cousins sons baptism, and the hall was the same hall I had my wedding reception.

Great videos. I can't imagine what you have to charge to do a same day edit/have that many staff on site, and still make something.

Ya amazing church, but right now they are fixing up the outside so it's all covered up, and it's reducing the amount of light getting in, but it still looks amazing inside.
