Already sold the Nifty Fifty. Would like to sell 17-40 & Tamron 28-75... and buy 50mm 1.4 and 24-70mm. This is for FF. I rarely shoot at 17mm anyways..and don't like the distortion.

What say y'all?

I say go for it. I'm basically in the same boat as you, thinking about selling both the primes for the 1.4 and then purchasing a 24-70

Interesting.. I know there's a lot of debate about sigma vs. canon 50mm... but 24-70mm? Is it any better and if so, what makes it better?

The three year warranty and the £400 price difference.

Its not better or worse. Just a better business decision.

17-40 to 24-70 is pretty different and IMO the 24-70 is a much better lens but it really depends on what you shoot. Sounds like you don't care for UW so the 24-70 will probably be much more useful. I am very happy with mine but its the lens I love to hate. ( big heavy but great image quality )

They are both a step up in quality and both are very good lenses but keep in mind the 24-70 is a much heavier lens so if this is for travel or casual walk around it may get a bit frustrating.

Well the Canon 24-70 would be better built and have dust/weather sealing. The Sigma wouldn't. I also vote for Sigma 50 1.4 and Canon 24-70.

Not nearly as heavy as 70-200mm 2.8 IS. I run around with it all day long!

I definitely recommend the Sigma 50mm and I've used the 24-70mm. Another great lens. But I actually just sold my Sigma 50 along with a 24-105mm to help fund a 70-200mm II. I'm hoping to get a 28-75mm to fill the gap at least for a bit.
