I have the Sigma lens presently but have had concerns about IQ at anything over 150mm. I will be using it for shooting wildlife.
I was wondering if the Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS would be a better replacement at $230 (sell the Sigma used).
I also have the Canon 18-55 IS
Any help appreciated.

I've never used the Sigma, but I am very happy with what I get out of the 55-250 Canon, especially for the price. I do find myself wanting more range though, which is why I'm considering a Sigma 150-500 to couple with the 55-250 for wildlife shots.

Yes you will definetely find the Canon 55-250 is much better than the Sigma at all common focal lengths. Right now is a good time to purchase the Canon. $100 off. Your 18-55 and 55-250 match up very well.

6D, 5D, 7Dii, Eos R and too many lenses, flashes and aux. gear to list!

Like every lens, a good copy is a good copy. I have owned the 55-250 twice. Yes, fully extended and it is not that sharp. That's what I have pp programs for. A sharpening filter click and you never know the difference.

I looked and looked at every possible long telephoto. I could have spent much more and probably gotten a better lens. But for the $179 at crutchfield's, I couldn't pass up the 55-250.

Ain't nothin but a thing.

right, at $179 the 55-250IS is unbeatable

and when it's fully extended at 250mm the 55-250IS is sharp (for some people)
