So, its 90 degrees in Minnesota and they have high heat and humidity warnings for my brides outdoor wedding. 3:00 pm arrives, peak heat, lots of water, found some nice shade for the formals, all in good. ceremony goes off w/o a hitch and its really starting to get hot. Taking last sets of shots and our bride (who is in her late 4o,s) start to feel a little funny:eek:

We head to the reception which is 10 minutes away. She walk into the air conditioned building and she hits the floor. Bride goes into full blown heat stroke. We try to cool her down, she stops sweating, starts throwing up, turns red and her temp is rising. myself (trained EMT) and a nurse start packing her in ice and calling paramedics. Paramedics have a 10-15 minutes ETA, hospital is 5 mins away. We load her into a suberban and head to the ER room. Hubby is going crazy, running stops and reds like there is no tomorrow.

Doctor meets us at the door and into an ER room she goes. Gives her 2 bags of IV juice, Gives her some meds to stop the nausea, and 3 hours later we arrive at the reception. Everyone waited for her, and we carried on like nothing happened. she was a little wobbly on the dance floor, but she managed to do OK. It was definately a first for me.

Wedding album is going to look cool with the Emergency room shots and having her her all hooked up to the heart monitors and IV bags-- classic. When we knew she was out of the woods, hubby told me to go get the camera:p.

One of the more fun wedding we have donebw!

Wow! The closest experience to that I've ever had was a bridesmaid fainting in the heat. Good job on providing service "above and beyond" the call of duty.

Wow wow, I'm glad she returned well, what a story to tell. I can't imagine been outside in this heat wave. Today is one more day to survive and 66 for Thursday :)

All the photojournalist-style wedding photographers are amending their package language to offer "full ER coverage."

CRAZY! You should share some of those ER pics!

Oddly enough, I had a wedding in Minnesota as well yesterday and the weather was PERFECT! 70 degrees, no humidity... pretty much the definition of perfect wedding weather. Oh Lake Superior, I love you. :)
