EDIT: SCAM!

---------------

http://cgi.ebay.com …meras&hash=item588e4f0981 (external link)

The seller has 100% positive feedback (615 ratings) but everything they've sold until now is low cost bathroom/paper goods.

I emailed asking why it was so cheap and got this response:

Hello,
The camera is brand new in original box, this is US model with US warranty. The buy it now price for the camera is $1,600. Transaction will be handled by ebay, so we can both be protected and able to exchange feedback after transaction is successfully closed!
I will offer a 5 day inspection period for the camera, so if by any reason you are not satisfied with it, you can return it against a full refund!
If you do want the deal, just please email me your full name and full shipping address and I will start the transaction under ebay. You will be after contacted by them with further instructions on how to complete this sale.

Thank you,
Claire

That last paragraph seems sketchy to me. Plus the seller has over 10 available.

Anyone want to be a guinea pig lol

If there is a doubt - there is no doubt.
It's not legit.
Please alert Ebay of the action.

Just got this response after I asked again why they needed my address/why so cheap:

We are sellling cheap because we have a promotion now from our supplier. I asked for your shipping address just in case if you place an order.

Claire

I SO BADLY want this to be legit but I'll wait till someone else posts feedback after buying one. The seller apparently has over 10 so they're not going anywhere

All other feedback is for paper products and the fact that they want you to go outside of ebay means this is definitely a hacked account.

I googled "Total Source Packaging" and found their office # in Tennessee. Called them up and the operator wasn't aware that they were selling cameras but confirmed that was their ebay account and she said she'd check with the guy who handles the ebay stuff and call me back later this afternoon.

99% sure it's a scam but keeping my hopes up. Two people have already bought them since I created this thread...hope for their sake it's legit

It's possible that a company could be selling a used DSLR for shooting promotional pics, etc. But 10 brand new 5Ds? Very unlikely.

You could always get the EOS 5D Mark II from blemino.com ... only $1650. You can also pick up a 70-200L 2.9 IS for $1580 or a 100 2.8L Macro for $730. Then you realize that this outfit has no mention at all on resellerratings, and there is no phone number or physical address listed anywhere on the site. Eh ... no thanks.

Don't even need to know the price to know that this is a scam.
Look at the listing description. Clearly a hijacked account.

Hope the two people that bought don't get completely shafted.

Anyone else report the listing?

the reason they ask for your email address outside of ebay, is so they can send you emails that are meant to look like they are from ebay. perhaps an ebay email with a link to the listing, which is actually a link to a server hosting a site that looks like ebay. you enter your ebay info to log in, and then click their buy it now link and enter your paypal info.

guess what? they now have your ebay and paypal login information.

This is obviously a scam. The guys account was hacked. This is the same thing they do over and over again--telling people to email them to get personal information and hopefully milk a payment out of you.

That is the weakness the scammer is preying on. STAY AWAY.

all we can do is tell you about past experiences we have seen or experienced. it's your choice whether to believe it or not, just don't start another thread a few days from now titled "I was scammed on ebay - what do I do?" :-)

this guy right here....selling a copy of Zack Arias' OneLight DVD.

http://cgi.ebay.com …&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT (external link)

check out the auction, it ended...but it says he relisted it...he's relisted this same DVD probably a good 5 or 6 times so far since I first noticed it. I bet he's copying the DVDs and selling them.

so people are buying these DVDs for $150+, and he can just keep churning them out.
