Beware of this what certainly appears to be a scam on Ebay.

I wrote to the guy out of curiosity and this is his reply. Shaky at the least. I got a laugh at how he said "so we will both be protected".

“Hello,

This is for a BRAND NEW Canon EOS 5D Mark II 21.1 MP Digital SLR Body camera in original box, never opened, 1 year Canon warranty. The buy it now price is $1,500. Transaction will be handled by ebay, so we can both be protected and able to exchange feedback after transaction is successfully closed!
I will offer a 10 days inspection period for the camera, so if by any reason you are not satisfied with it, you can return it against a full refund!
If you do want the deal, just please email me your full name and full shipping address and I will start the transaction under ebay. You will be after contacted by them with further instructions on how to complete this sale.

Thank you,

Claire”

Sounds like he sweetened up the deal a bit since that listing. Ten day examination period instead of five, and now down to 1500 bucks

Another one of these postings? It's pretty obvious what a scam is by this point... I don't think we need anymore ebay alerts :D

Never say never. Plenty of stories will continue to pop up like this because someone out there will fall prey to it.

An expensive lesson is a lesson well learned :D Warn someone of a scam, and they'll avoid it--only to go back to their unwary ways. After getting taken for the first time (big money), they'll be forever cautious from that point forward!

Super low price for no apparent reason. Check.
Multiple units available. Check.
Past selling history doesn't match what is being sold now. Check.
Seller wants to complete sale off of eBay? Check.

Maybe, just maybe, this is (another) scam. I don't feel any need to lose money to *really* learn this lesson.

It's funny how he tells you Ebay will contact you with the details after payment is received. Bye bye 1500.

And give your name, address, phone #, and email address to a scammer? For a cheap thrill?

I don't think eBay gives all buyer info to the seller as soon as you buy something. Paypal does when you pay but not eBay.

Actually, ebay gives the seller the buyer's email, name and address after the item is successfully sold even before any payment is made by the seller.

It's shown in the email ebay sends to the seller. (got a few of them the other day)

I filed a fraudulent activities report to Ebay on the jerk. First of all you don't conduct business outside of Ebay and he warns/tells you not to buy but to contact him. That's against Ebay policies.
