Actually, ebay gives the seller the buyer's email, name and address after the item is successfully sold even before any payment is made by the seller.

It's shown in the email ebay sends to the seller. (got a few of them the other day)

Yes you're right, I stand corrected!

Another one of these postings? It's pretty obvious what a scam is by this point... I don't think we need anymore ebay alerts :D

I completely agree with MOkoFOko. We don't need to fill up this forum with every scam out there. How about we just use the Market Watch forum for good deals, coupons, and places to shop. It would be far more useful.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case. They have to complete checkout first before ebay forwards those personal details. Even if you do a ebay member lookup (only if you have an ongoing transaction with that member), it won't give you anything beyond a contact email and phone number. Mailing addresses are kept private.

That's correct but if you press buy now and commit to buying the item (without paying), the seller will be able to see your personal details since the purpose is to give the seller a heads up on where to ship once he/she receives cleared payment.

The way I read it is you deal with him by email and then he says Ebay will contact you for further instruction on receiving the goods. Obviously he doesn't want you to click buy because that money would go to the etail store that he hijacked.

Never say never. Plenty of stories will continue to pop up like this because someone out there will fall prey to it.

So true! Just because a lot of 'us' know better, it doesn't mean that we should avoid posting this information for those that do not know better.

How many 'which UV filter do I need to protect my lens' threads has there been? It just goes to show, that there are always people that need to be informed.
