Red Epic - 120 fps still camera as well

Not sure how many of you read C5D or Laforet's blog but he got his hands on a Red Epic and tried it out as a supped up still camera with a pretty amazing degree of success

So now we have an epic (bad pun intended) digital cinema camera that is capable of serving as cracked out still camera as well.

EPIC is going to change the world of photography too. Sports photographers dream tool.

is it only 16x9 aspect? if so, not good for stills.

I think you can change the aspect ratio as you like.

The whole thing 48fps in 3D. James Cameron just bought 50 EPIC's for Avatar 2. New Spiderman 3D, Pirates of Caribbean etc are all shot with RED too.

I think a system like RED is what's next in photo tech. Matter of time.

Might be a few years off, but I'm sure one day all of our cameras will do 96 fps and native HDR.

The Magic Lantern hack added auto HDR do my camera and it has really expanded my shooting.

Few years? More like 10 years when Canon and Nikon does it.

All high-end holiday productions are shooting on RED. Or many anyway.

Just a matter of time before our DSLR's can do this.

Yes. People also use EPIC to shoot for fashion magazines etc.

I had a chance to help out on set of a short commercial where they used a RED Epic. That thing was pretty cool, no joke.
