What's the lens you regret getting rid of?

Actually, it would be two lenses: the 10-22 and 17-85 EFS lenses that ended up going as a package with my 20D. I've been doing a lot of real estate photography lately, and they would have been ideal---much lighter and faster handling than my 1D/1Ds with 16-35L and 24-105L.

Am I wrong, or do you own a tilt-shift lens? Isn't that really the best lens for real estate work?

The lens I regret having gotten rid of most was my 1200mm F1.0

I traded it to Ronald for six-hundred-fifty-three 24-70's.

I do have the 24mm version, and it's probably a great lens for architectural work, but what I'm doing is taking snapshots of new houses currently under construction, and emailing them to clients. It really isn't a situation that calls for much care, let along sophisticated equipment.

Well, that's your chance to get a 400D and 10-22 as 'light combo', then.

I sold a 35mm Summicron that was made for a custom order for a very wealthy lawyer, it was a 35mm 1.4...and it's the only one ever made.....all 1.4's are Summilux's..I sold it to a collector cause I got a 35 Summicron from Kertesz as a gift and never took it off my camera.......still have it and the camera.....but I sure would like that 1.4 Summicron back.......must be worth a fortune now.....don

I don't miss a Canon lens at all- I've only gotten rid of a few, and none of 'em were particularly good.

Had rotten luck with a 28mm f/1.8. Couldn't find a sharp one: went through 4 in the store until I found one that worked with the 10D. The lack of a fast, bright prime lens for smaller-than-135 film cameras made my choice much easier in the long run- get rid of the 10D... And I did.
The 50mm f/1.8 left at that time too. Not a horrible lens. Not a great one either. Can't say as to miss it. The 50 f/1.4 is a much better lens (and the Summilux 50mm ASPH is much better, yet!). I'd not miss it, though, either, if I got the f/1.2.

Once I got back into digital (Leica traded for the 5D):
I had a 20mm a little while ago. It's a nice lens, for someone else, I'm sure. I *like* the vignetting, and it was sharp enough, but since it was such a general pain-in-the-butt, I got rid of it (for the 16-35mm f/2.8: a better lens all-the-way around). Didn't regret it.

Only ever sold one lens, the Sigma 35 ART and regretted a few days later. Will be looking to add it back in future..

How did you get to page 3106 of this thread without realizing it?

An old FD 17mm f4 was sold to fund for an ex girlfriends birthday present. Couple of weeks later i needed it for a wedding and a few weeks after that we split up. I also moved on an FD circular fisheye (8mm?) for peanuts then was offered more than the shop I sold it to got for it.ߘ

I meant the last post was 9 years ago..
