30 Seconds to Mars in Puerto Rico!

This Past May one of my Favorites Bands, 30 Seconds to Mars came to Puerto Rico, and I had the chance to shoot the show, which is one of the Best Shows I’ve had the chance to shoot!

All shot on Canon 7D with Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS and a Kenko 1.4x Teleconverter
1 & 3 @ 5000 ISO 1/200 Shutter Speed f/4.0
2 @ 5000 ISO 1/160 Shutter Speed f/4.0

really dig #1. 2 and 3 could use some fill light as the blacks are a bit too crushed...unless its my laptop monitor...then they look great! 2 is framed a bit too center for me as well. good capture on the emotion though.

I saw these guys in Portland a few months ago and would've killed a puppy to shoot it. i don't know if they were doing the same setup but at the start of the show Jared is backlit heavily by a huge red light and it's just his silhouette. Definitely agree that the show is crazy good. He went up to the top balcony (fairly close quarters show) and did his acoustic set for about 30 minutes taking requests to. Nice set though. My favorite is the last shot with Shannon.

Both the guitarist and the Drummer had very little light on them during those first 3 songs we were allowed to shoot, it was really hard to get good shots of em, and yes blacks are really crushed i kind of like em that way

It was 'scaled' down show, not as much lights and SFX as they normally use, but still was amazing, and Jared did do an Acoustic Set Along Tomo and Shannon(which i've never seen playing guitar before)
