I got myself an iPad2 the other day and love this thing. I had my doubts but I got it for nothing. Everything is fine with the exception of one thing, video.

I have a program that I had bought some time ago that converted video files to a number of different formats. I am not a video person at all so indulge my ignorance here. I chose the preset in this program for the iPod but the videos are horribly soft, I'm guessing because of the size difference in the screens. I've tried exporting to a MP4 format and sometimes they take and sometimes they don't.

So here is my question finally, does someone have a converter that they can recommend that will take pretty much any video format and convert it to iPad format so that it is clear and sharp.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I like MPEG Streamclip (there is a built in format for iPads called "Apple TV").

If you jailbreak it you can play the files natively. oh, and for 1K you can use it as a monitor.

And thats a very sad sad thing...

Kinda ridiculous too when you think about it... The Developer version of iOS 5 is already tethered JailBroken, but the iPad 2 isnt?! I bet the hackers and crackers get paid to NOT release JailBrakes and the such. What a conspiracy! lol

Apple had the vlc app on the AppStore for a few weeks until they realized they shouldn't have had it there, it allows you to copy any video to the iPad and play it perfectly without the need to convert.

It's been removed now, but I have a copy and it's great

I ordered mine a few minutes after Apple.com started selling them. I was very happy to get it, but use it rarely for video. I find it so useful, I hardly use my netbook anymore. Have fun with it, my friend!
