I've read about people setting their camera to shoot raw and medium jpeg at the same time. Which for me mostly web work would be great! I am wondering if the G6 can do this, or is this a dsl thing?
TIA,
cntry

The reason I asked is I shoot motorcycle events for the web.
So I dont really need the big jpg, but alot of times I need to pull something out of a pic, tattoo, Band member etc.
My raw skills are pitures going from bad to worse to WTF?
So as I learn raw I will still have the full image to work with.
Thanks again for the help!

from reading the manual about recording raw and jpeg...it only saves the jpeg thumbnail that shows up on your lcd and it's a .thm file that's about 5kb depending on what quality i think...(page 50)
so in actual fact it doesn't save both jpeg and raw...only raw and some thumbnail file that's 160x120 pixels...

I agree. I've got a G6 and a 10D, and only the 10D (and other Canon DSLR's) will save both the RAW ang JPEG together.

You can't save both the full-size JPG and the RAW, but the G-Series does have a neat feature that I wish the 20D, etc., had - you can take a JPG photo, but immediately save it as a RAW instead, by pressing the "flash" button. See page 58 of the manual.

DSLRs don't have that feature (at least the ones I have don't).

Yes, but I still thinking, in what occasion I will need to use that feature ....

Doesn't work for the G1... The manual doesn't mention anything about that, and pressing the "flash" button immediately after taking a picture does nothing.

It's a wonderful feature. You can shoot JPG all day long for "normal" shots, and when you realize you have a difficult exposure or a shot that might need additional work, you can save it as a RAW without going into a series of menus.
