I actually own a Sigma 30 1.4 (full body portrait) and a 85 f1.8 (head, shoulder) used in pair with my 7D. I really like the IQ of those 2 lens but I missed the L-quality lens build / and the pro looking lens.

I am actually looking to replace my lineup as follow :

1) Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 85 1.4;

2) Canon 35L 1.4, Canon 85 1.8.

3) Sigma 30 1.4, Canon 85 1.8, Canon 135 f2L

Hard to decide, I was really interested in the canon 35L but the 135f2L is also very tempting as it will grow up my lens lineup. Any idea of the best choice ?

Question is do you actually feel that you need the extra quality of the 35L, or you need the reach of the 135L?

I would say go for the reach over the quality, but if 90% of your photos are using the sigma 30, and you need the better quality, get the 35L instead.

Not sure whether my opinion will be any good as I use f/frame....

But I use Sigma's 50, 85 and the 100L almost exclusively for portraiture. The 35L comes out occasionally too. Since I've had the Siggy 50 recalibrated it really is an amazing lens....I can't fault it any more. The 85 is really top notch! I think if I was shooting crop sensor, I would go 35L Siggy 85 and maybe a 60mm macro for the closeups??

my siggy 30 turns out to be a very good all-around for indoor and outdoor shots, i may use it 70% of the time but I really like pulling out the 85 for outdoor shots. I don't really needs the extra 135mm as i doubt it will be hard to use on a crop...

If your Sigma 30 is a good one I doubt you'll see any significant improvements with the 35L - placebo effects aside.

I would either go option 1, or instead grab a Tamron 60 F/2 Macro for something in between (plus extra capabilities).

Agreed....or possibly stay with the 85 1.8, I had one until I replaced it with the Siggy and it was a great lens.

I'd go with 1.
