Unfortunately when everyone has seen a billion sunsets and it being arguably one of the most often photographed subjects plus there being some sensational images out there, yours better be pretty pretty pretty gooooood.

I agree: Everyone has to have a sunset, the moon, a duck... so it is difficult for these pics to stand out.
but I also agree: its his photo!
It is a nice photo and the composition is pleasing.
Keep shooting, and maybe next time include something more - a boat a silhouette, a palm tree, a bird...

I think its a very relaxing picture and it makes me want to go to the beach! My beaches face east though :(

Uh, I would call this a sunset shot as it appears that the sun is in fact setting. As they go, it's a pretty nice one. But as others have mentioned there are millions of them. They can be improved if there's something in the foreground to draw the eye. In this case, a boat would be a nice touch.

I like the colors, but I have to agree with everyone, if you have some interests on the water or just something in the foreground, this would have stood out more!

If it were mine, a mid tone levels adjustment so you can see the silhouette and a surface blur filter to soften the harsh transitional area around the sun. Other than those small observations, great image.

I thought it looked familiar! Grew up in White Rock, and spent many hours of misspent youth down at the Thousand Stairs......I assume you were on vacation?
