I had done Jenna's senior photos last year. Since I have a lack of friends in the near-by area and I need more photos for my new website(launching soon!) I emailed Jenna and was like, "Hey, get some friends together and lets shoot!" Not real long, but I'm super happy with the images - and so are they! Hoping they'll tell friends and family and get some clients my way!
Thanks for looking and as always CC is MORE than welcome. I'm still trying to figure out my *style*/editing technique.

1)They wanted the typical jumping shot. I'm not a huge fan of all the "lightspots" from the trees, it was rather un-avoidable.

3)My favorite. I also love it in B&W

5)She was a little awkward smiling. So I told her, "Don't smile." "Well if I don't smile it'll look like I'm making a mean face at you!" "You can make a mean face me!" And this is what I got.

3&4 are my favorites. Great focus and photogenic subjects.

"Since I have a lack of friends in the near-by area and I need more photos for my new website- I emailed _____ and was like, "Hey, get some friends together and lets shoot!""
^^This has been my life the past few months. I've been reaching out to folks left and right and asking them to sit for me so I can build up my portfolio. Each sitting is a small victory and great practice! I have an engagement session tomorrow and I'm excited! If you need any encouragement: Keep at it! You take great photos and it's obvious that you love doing it!

Fun Fact: My name is Charlie!

Thank you! That is very encouraging to hear that. (: It can be so easy to get down about my work - especially when I don't have a lot of people to shoot and my camera gear...needs upgrading(I'm still rocking my Rebel and kit lens and thankfully am borrowing a 70-200L from friends). haha. But its great to hear I did good on this shoot. (: Thank you.

Very nice shots.

they look great :-)

don't fret over your gear. it will grow in time. it's the photographer that makes the photos, the camera is just there to capture what the photog sees :-)

haven't you ever seen the iphone arguement/shoot?

Yeah, I've been told that many, many times its not the gear but the photographer(we can't but think it every now and then though. haha.) I think by this shoot though I proved to myself that it really IS NOT the gear, but the photographer. (:

And I have not heard the iphone thing! Pretty interesting.

Re: Gear - I just got my 50D after using a rebel XS for a while. It's quite an upgrade and much more pleasant to use. That said, I take MUCH more careful and better exposed shots with my Elan IIe + 50mm/1.8

If film weren't as costly, I'd probably just use the elan all the time. It really helps me slow down and work for a good shot. I wish I could be as deliberate with the digital camera.

Also, this might be helpful, check this guy out:

Most of his work was shot with a 30D and 5Dc and he writes passionately about the fact that his gear isn't holding him back, nor is it why he gets good images. He switched to film for 2011, I think and his stuff is better than ever.

He's got some good stuff!!!!

I'd LOVE to shoot film. I've got some kind of film camera sitting in my room, but its so expensive I can't afford it. ): But I really do think it helps us slow down and really think about our shots. I try and do that with my Rebel. Think, compose, and take as few images as possible. Puts more meaning into the images rather than *clickclicklick hope I got a good one*
