Is there any small modifier that has a round catch light for 580EX II speedlites?

I’m not looking for an umbrella or anything big. I need something that I can clip on like the Stofen Omibounce. (Like the reflectors that AB strobes come with)

You're looking for a modifier that mounts to the head of a forward firing flash?

I've always found that at any normal working distance, the catch light appears to be round without any modification.

Maybe something like this?

You're gonna have to have the light riiiiiiight next to the model's face for it to give any sort of desirable effect, though. If the Speedlite is on your hotshoe and you're several feet away, it's not going to work the way you want it to.

Michael,

Are you looking for a round catch light or are you looking for a LARGER round catch light?

Oh, Gawd, I will hate myself for saying this!!!...
A small round catchlight is easily produced by using a flash pointed forward (not flash pointed upward) with a Fong Lightsphere attached to it.

<I suddenly feel sick> Kick me, Robert!

Rob,

Yes, something that'll mount to the head of a flash.

This is for rim / back light only.

I am now puzzled, and rim light or a back light are between the subject and the backdrop, so will never appear as catchlights in the eyes of a subject!

'Catchlight' inherently is defined to be reflections of light sources seen in the subject's eye from camera position. The OP failed to say (until post 6) that the light source was positioned between the subject and the background (inherent definitions of 'rim' and 'backlight' even when they are somewhat overhead), where light sources can never create 'catchlights'. Methinks OP failed to use or understand what is the right term for what he wanted.

Not a catchlight or a rim light. LOL sorry. I'm having a brain fart as far as what I'm trying to describe.

If you look at Peter's (pnmd) lighting style, his back lights are somewhat round (of course he uses strobes with round head).
That's what i'm trying to achieve. (I tried adjusting the power output, adjusting the distance of the flash and adjusting shutter speed with no success)

Well..go find Smorter...he's found a way to bend light. That's the only way you're going to get a catch light from a backlight or rim light..

sorry...couldn't resist. I like to push his buttons!

That link certainly does not show 'catchlight'. You simply need a round reflector on a flash tube...common characteristic of studio flashhead. The earlier suggested beauty dish attachment might work well, but so would the Lightsphere pointed back at the lens.

You can do this with a simple reflector. Most light come with a 7" round reflector, and if you're using speelights, interfit makes a round reflector that you can attach as well. I think you do this by dropping the power on the back lights. I thought Peter posted a tutorial on how he did a shot like this. Did you try searching his posts
