Is there an action shot mode on the Canon s90, like taking 3 pics with one click?

I just got a s90 and dont have a manual for it. Is there a way to take multiple pics with just one click or by holding the button down?

I don't have an S90 but I looked at the manual and on page 79 it says it has continuous shooting. I think that's what you are asking. I wouldn't get the text to copy and paste here though. Download it and have a look.

PeepingTom - The Continuous shooting speed in the S90 is 0.9fps..

You might try the AEB - Auto Exposure Bracketing - which gives 3 shots at settable different amounts of exposure above/below the level you - or the camera - set.

The difference can be set as little as 1/3EV above/below the single-shot setting. That's not much difference in a P&S, and also might give you one of the 3 shots as better than the others.

In my Canon SX10 the 3-shots AEB is slightly faster than the 1.4fps Continuous rate - though I don't know if that appplies to the S90.

If you prefer to shoot JPEG rather than RAW, you can still "adjust" your AEB images in Photoshop or Gimp, etc.

With Photoshop, as JPEG is a "lossy" format, convert the image to PSD before working on it. Open the PSD version in Photoshop, and open the Levels dialog. You'll see a window a bit like a histogram, with 3 sliders at the bottom. Moving the left one "darkens", the right "lightens", and the centre adusts midrange.

There's rather more to Levels, which you can Google Tutorials for - but if you are only adjusting for +/- 1/3EV in AEB, that's enough to do it - the slider movements will be quite small, for that. Levels is a much better adjustment across the range of light in the image, than just using a "Brightness" adjustment tool.

Your S90 does have a Custom preset you can save to "Custom" on the Mode Dial. You can save the AEB function to that, and just click the Dial to it when needed.

You can put the s95 in "Continuous" mode, and shoot jpg, and it will take pics as long as you hold down the shutter. However, the best it can do is around 1 shot per second (well, except if you use low light mode but then you lose a lot of picture quality).

Other cameras have "burst" modes where they take several shots very quickly up to a certain number of shots, like the Nikon p300 takes 7 shots at 10fps I believe in a burst (then can't take more shots until it finishes processing, but it does a quick burst). But the s95 doesn't have anything nearly as fast.
