So, my wife is insisting that she and our children are incapable of selecting a fathers day gift for me.

At first, I thought cool!. However, after thinking about it for a couple of days I can't think of anything for me either that isn't painfully expensive.

So, does anyone have good accessory ideas that aren't a flash(I already have 2 + 1 on the way) and that costs less than $400?

A good tripod?
Memory cards?
New bag?
Photoediting software?
Cheaper wider prime lens for video?
Just some ideas if you don't have any of these

A grip and a couple of batteries?

How are you set on CPL and ND filters?

Do you own a tripod?

How about a Sekonic light meter?

A new camera bag?

Let them buy you a website?

ONA Union Street. In the smoke color, if you want to get specific.

It's perfect. It's way too expensive (for what it is) to justify as a purchase for yourself, but as a gift from a loved one it fits the budget you set, and it's really, really nice so you'll actually enjoy it, unlike all those ties and socks and sweaters that dads tend to stereotypically receive.

EDIT: Just thought of this - as an added bonus, it's a gift your wife will actually understand...if she's like my girlfriend and doesn't care about photography beyond the end result, she won't know squat about camera gear or why one gadget is better than another. Ask my girlfriend why I spent what I did on a 77mm CPL and she'll look at you crazy. Your wife will know a nice looking bag when she sees one, though.

Just got a new bag a couple of weeks ago.

I hate grips, they make the camera huge

I don't have any.

I have an inexpressive bogen tripod I bought 15 years ago. It is heavy though. I have been thinking about getting something lightweight to travel with but the decent CF tripods I was looking at were $400 just for the legs.

Is it possible to get decent, lightweight travel tripod and head for under $400?

That looks like a sweet bag. I almost wish I had seen that before I picked my tenba messenger bag a couple of weeks ago.

Ten Thumbs up on this one. I have the B-2691 and if you shop on ebay, you can get it for under $400 with the B1 head shipped.

+1, nice, light little tripod.

A Lumedyne Microcycler battery for your flashes.. Ok she has to pay an extra $3..

BUT you can save all the money on your batteries... Recycle time about 1 second...

And you'd look like a Pro and get more photography work...
