Yes I wouldn't buy the XT SE if there were no option to test it out beforehand.

rent it?

I've had great dealings with PCB, too, when they shipped me the wrong PLM. They corrected the problem without delay.

Not sure how that comes under the heading of "great dealings".

"Company ships wrong item, then sorts it out, costs client time without ordered item, hassle of sending things back, etc".

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I just saw this (external link) video on the innovatronix youtube page.. seems to work great. Judging by the look of it these hensels are digital and bivoltage (just like BXri's, so that's a good sign for me). didnt seem to have any trouble.

now if only my strobes were Hensels.....

I'm starting to put together the pop tests so I'll have some numbers to report very soon.

Again, I want to ask, or invite anyone with Bees, Einstein's, D-Lite's, Profoto's or any monolight, to come have the strobe tested for compatibility and a pop test with the Explorer Mini.

If you're interested and live on Long Island, PM or email me to make an appointment.

Rob,
Wish I was close. I'd like to see the mini and would be happy to bring some E640s for testing.
If you can't find anyone with Einsteins near by I could probably be talked into shipping you two of mine for a week or so of testing.

Same here Rob.....if you can't come up with anybody close with Bees, I could send you one or two B800's to test.

Hi David,

That is sounding like a good idea. I'm really not getting any local response and I want to get this testing underway.

Since the Einstein is a digitally controlled strobe, I think it makes sense to test a pair of them for compatibility and pop tests.

Hi George,

As I said to David, I think it's a great idea and appreciate the offer to help. Alien Bees are analog strobes and don't present any problems in terms of the power supply or compatibility. I would, however, like to do a pop test to demonstrate the difference in power consumption between analog and digital strobes and to show how much battery life you have if you're using an analog strobe such as an Alien Bees B800. A single B800 would certainly do for testing.
