Hi all,

I've got the new compact camera from Canon SX230 HS recently and it works just great. Yesterday, I noticed that when I try to shoot a photo by "fully" clicking the shooting button there is "two shots instead of one". Its like the clicking voice of the button gives me two clicks rather than one. This has affected image quality and it feels like the first button takes the photo and the second one add noise into it. I have reset everything to default settings but it didn't work. One important thing to say is that this only happens in particular modes but I am confused because it wasn't happening before and its annoying me.

I would appreciate any help with this.

THANKS!

I've got the SX220 HS which is identical apart from the GPS. But I'm not sure that I understand what's happening with your camera.

Like all modern digital cameras, the button (the proper name is the 'shutter release' but it's also sometimes called the 'trigger') has two positions. You half-press it to allow the camera to focus, then you push it all the way down to take the shot. If you push the button all the way down in one go the camera might not have time to focus properly, so the resulting picture might not look as good as you'd like it to be. Does this make sense?

You also said that your problem only happens in particular modes, but you didn't say which modes they are.

By the way, when you start getting nice pictures with the SX230 HS, I'd love to see some of them in this thread

Thanks Garry. Now after checking it more and more it seems that when I start the camera, the shutter button works fine. But after a few shoots I start to hear two shots as follows- First I half-click the shutter button to focus, then I fully click the shutter button to take the photos. At this instance, instead of hearing one shooting sound, I can hear like the camera is taking two photos! I dont know why!

I will of course share some photos here.

THANKS!

Oh, OK, I understand now. If I were in your position I'd take the camera back to the shop I bought it from and ask their opinion. If you're sure it's affecting the quality of your photos, you could tell them and request a replacement.

Sounds like you have multi-shot mode selected instead of single shot. Is it OK in Easy mode where multi-shot is disabled?
