I just got back from taking my wife and two kids to France for 8 nights, one in Paris, six in the Dordogne and one in Paris.

I shot this one with a 1D4 and 16-35/2.8LII. The effect was with the HDR Effex Pro PS plug-in. I think it works here? Shot at 16mm, f/16; 1/250; ISO 400, uncropped.

Have the original? Not crazy about the HDR effect. Did your effect add what appears to be sensor dirt in the sky portion or is that really a dirty sensor?

Also, if you have a 1D4 and L lens(es) and your IPhone takes better shots, there may be some operator error going on with the good gear! Just a thought.

Wow.. those were my very thoughts.. I thought you were reading my mind ;)

Well i do like the processing ... the HDR etc..
but not the watermark and without the "birds" hehehe ..
is that what you call them ???

ok, just kidding. but they do look like dirt.. but then they do look like an old postcard.. (except for the new boat ;) )

Jeeze guys I was joking about the iPhone/1D thing. Sheesh, give me a break.

And I'll take the dust spots out. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, I was going for the postcard look to be sure. OK, the three in the lower part of the sky are birds when I look at the original full size. Thanks for pointing out the dust though at the top.

much better, and I like the effect too. One thing though, it seems the horizon is sloping a little to the right....could be my imagination though.

Thank you. We've seen a lot of vintage postcards recently and I like the look. Just playing around really. I could bore you with the manifold of effects from HDR Effex Pro.

I think you may be right about the horizon. The second image is rotated a bit CC and cropped from the first. I'm looking at the edge on the left and the building in the distance. I don't believe that the first bridge is level.

I am a bit ashamed at not catching the dust spots in the first. As an excuse, it's been a while since I shot past f/8 and the camera could probably use a cleaning after 3,200 shots. There was also an open bottle of Chimay on the desk as I was processing. I got a bit excited by how much I liked the effect and posted hastily.

Bay Photo printed a 20x30" of this shot on Giclee Watercolor paper for me and it looks even more like a painting.

In fact I think the effect works a lot better on the Giclee paper than on a computer monitor.

Many thanks for the comments.
